Saracens Cheerleading
Students in Years 7 - 9 at Francis Bacon were offered the opportunity to take part in an eight week cheerleading course with Saracens. The group trained and learnt routines before competing in a District competition held at
Year 2 Potted Sports The Year 2 students from Windermere, Cunningham Hill Infants', Bowmansgreen and London Colney took part in a Potted Sports afternoon in September. Students rotated around a circuit of short activities focused on the development of basic fundamental motor skills. The events were delivered by Francis Bacon MCC Sports Leaders with the help of Mrs Holton. A great afternoon enjoyed by all.
Yr 6 Football / Netball Tournament On the 21st of October Year 6 students took part in a football and netball tournament. The teams were mixed and
Yr 5 Basketball This November, Year 5 students took part in a mixed Basketball competition. The games were very close and the spirit of the competition was fantastic. In the end Windermere Primary won overall.
Term 2 Festivals In the coming term we will be hosting the following: 13/01/10 - Yr 6 Sports hall Athletics 29/10/10 - Primary School Cricket (run by the Hertfordshire County Cricket Association) 10/02/10 - Yr 3 Dance 10/03/10 - Yr 4 Tag
KS4 Girls Girls in Year 11 were offered the chance to take part in a special afterschool club that focused on developing health and fitness. Activities included aerobics, yoga and various other fitness related activities.
Dodgeball Dodgeball has been introduced at Francis Bacon through Livewire. Instructors from Charters are delivering the sessions two days a week to two groups (Year 7-9 and Year 10-11) at lunchtimes. It's an exciting non- traditional game that the students have really enjoyed taking part in. The club has been very popular and we look forward to having the instructors come back next term.
Go Scheme
Yr 11 students were invited to take part in the Go Scheme run by Charters Health Club. The girls travelled to Charters Gym for an eight week block where they took part in a variety of fitness related activities including circuit training, Aerobics and Boxercise. Next term a group of Year 10 students will be taking part in the scheme, which will this time be delivered at Francis Bacon MCC by Charters instructors.
Body Works
Next term students in Year 7 and 8 will be offered the chance to take part in programme called Body Works. The purpose is to engage young people in a new sport and also to promote healthy eating. It is a free programme which runs for four weeks after school. Week one focuses on healthy eating (where they also make a healthy salad to take home), weeks two and three are run by Charters Health Club and introduce Dodge ball, and the final week looks at how the body works, led by
