CHAUNCY ACTIVITY DAY 13 May 2008
Over 130 year 10 students from Chauncy enjoyed a full day of sporting activity at Wodson Park Sports Centre this week. The day was funded by a grant from Herts Sports Partnership as part of their 16-24 'Get Active' programme which is designed to increase the participation of that age group in sport.
The day highly successful day was organised by Sandy Edwards, School Sports Coordinator, and by Miss Marissa Goodwin, Chauncy School Head of PE: they were assisted jointly by a number of coaches from the Hertford and Ware School Sports Partnership and Wodson Park Sports Centre.
The students all participated in the following activities, many of which were completely new to them: Street Dance, Hockey, Pop Lacrosse, Brazilian Soccer, Aerobics, Yoga, Gym fitness, Karate and Concept Rowing. They all expressed how much they enjoyed the wide variety of the various challenges. Both staff and coaches were very impressed with the high level of effort and interest shown.
Once all the feedback is collated, the school will be offered the chance to have the coaches going into Chauncy to deliver further sessions within lunch hours or after school.
