British Olympic Foundation Masterclass - September 2008

The British Olympic Foundation MasterClasses are a series of workshops held in Secondary Schools and Sports Specialist Colleges around the country.

The Foundation is committed to developing participation in sport at all levels, as well as encouraging and inspiring young people to lead a healthy and active lifestyle, and fostering an appreciation for the Olympic ideals.

Three Masterclasses took place on Wednesday 24th September at three venues with over 500 students participating from Richard Hale, Simon Balle, Chauncy and Presdales.

MasterClasses are directed at Year 12 & 13 students to aid their Physical Education AS & A2-level courses, within the specifics of the National Curriculum.  The objective being to develop knowledge, related to the Olympic experience, and provide a unique insight into elite level British sport, inspiring and enthusing our younger generation of sporting students.

MasterClasses are administered and operated by Olympian, Suki Brownsdon and Team GB Sports Dietician, Gill Horgan.  Suki is a former Olympic swimmer having competed in 4 Olympic Games for Great Britain. She has 5 Commonwealth Games' medals including Gold, a European silver medal and is double World Cup Champion. Gill is a state registered and accredited Sports Nutritionist. She is a private consultant to many international sportsmen and women in many Olympic and non-Olympic sports.

The three masterclasses were a great success and it is hoped that the British Olympic Foundation will return next year.
