MultiSports Festival
Sir John Lawes Sports leaders organised a very active and enjoyable MultiSport festival for 120 primary students from Crabtree infants and
Big Lottery
Two Big Lottery projects have taken place at Sir John Lawes this term. A lunchtime Speed Stacking and Table Tennis club for Year 7, delivered by school staff and after school girls' basketball, delivered by Apex.
Basketball
Following a teacher training course in the autumn term, both Grove and Crabtree Infants introduced mini-basketball to their schools. The School Sports Partnership provided basketball equipment, resources and additional support for class teachers with the SSCo delivering lessons for a half or full term. The Year 2 students responded very enthusiastically to the lessons, showing good skill progression and understanding. We look forward to them enjoying more games in the future.
Gym and Dance Festival
Approximately 180 Primary School students from Manland, Grove Infants, High Beeches and the
Gymnastics Inset
The SSCo has provided in-class support with Reception and Year 4 classes this term at High Beeches. This is part of the Sports Partnership's work with schools to develop high quality PE and is one form of teacher INSET provided.
Virtual MultiSports Year 3 and 4
All thirteen Year 3 and 4 classes within the SJL family have taken part in the virtual MultiSports competitions this terms. Students have been very enthusiastic working really hard to beat their personal best performances. Sportshall Athletics Manland were runners up in this year's cluster event, with Crabtree winning overall. It was a very well contended competition with all four schools (Crabtree, Manland, High Beeches and The Grove) entering enthusiastic teams and showing excellent sporting conduct. Crabtree went on to win the Partnership Championship and to represent the District in the
