County TOP Link Festival

Four of our students represented our Sports Leaders at the County TOP Link Festival at Herts Sports Village. John Loveridge, Zac Cooper, Conor McCarthy and Mali Oram spent the day with Sports Ambassadors and potential Year 9 SportsLeaders from across the county, learning how to put on a sports festival.

In the morning they looked at making up games using limited pieces of different equipment. They paired up with other members of the group (students from Cavendish School and Watford Grammar School for Girls) to teach the other groups how to play their game.

After lunch they stayed in their group and learnt how to play some new team games using the 'Your Sport' resource cards. They thoroughly enjoyed beating the girls at Tag Rugby, but the girls got their own back in the game of Handball! Our students were a real credit to our school, not only with their excellent behaviour, but also in contributing ideas to their group and leading other students in activities!

Virtual Multi-skills

Many congratulations to the Year 4 students at Redbourn Junior School for winning this term's competition!

Boccia Festival at St Lukes

Students from the St Lukes' family of schools recently came together to play in a Boccia Festival.

Boccia is an inclusive game, very similar to Green Bowls, the differences being that it is played seated and the balls are smaller, lighter and made of leather.

Teams consist of three players, who each take a turn at being captain and making the decisions.  This year we had a staff team join the festival and the pupils thoroughly enjoyed beating their teachers!

SENIOR FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT

The boys went to the final round of the tournament in second position after three rounds. They needed to play well against the other schools to maintain this position.

In the first game they played Garston Manor and were very unfortunate to lose 1-0. The next game against The Collett School was a thrilling 0-0 draw, both sides having their chances but failing to finish.

We then faced the top of the league Hailey Hall, and suffered our biggest defeat of the day, followed by Pinewood who narrowly beat us 1-0.

For our final game against The Valley School, we had saved all our goal scoring, beating them 4-1!

The team played exceptionally well with all of the boys taking a turn in goal as our regular keeper was off sick. They finished the season a deserved second place in the league!

Year 4 and 5 Gifted and Talented Multi-Skills club

The Year 4 and 5 Gifted and Talented students from Redbourn Junior School recently joined with students from the STAGS family in a Multi-skills club.  Over the five weeks that the club took place the pupils worked together on improving their agility, balance, co-ordination, leadership and team skills.
