Saracens Cheerleading

Saracens Cheerleaders have been working within the cluster to give students the opportunity to learn new skills from dance based routines to stunts and lifts. Cheerleading is an up and coming activity with students enjoying the performance and skills they can learn. Many of the students from Nicholas Breakspear and the Primary Schools recently attended a Saracens game where students from other schools could

show off some of the routines they have been working on. Here are some comments from the students:

"I have enjoyed learning the routines and liked doing the stunts. I'm looking forward to the competition that is coming up soon."

Hope Purvis, Year 4, St Bernadette's.

"Going to Wembley was a great experience because I have never had the opportunity to cheer in front of a big audience." Rosina Basile,

Year 7, Nicholas Breakspear School.

Well done to Park Street who came second in the St Albans heats and fifth in the area final.

Year 6 Gifted and Talented Multi-Skills

Over six weeks, students from the primary schools attended the Gifted and Talented Multi-skills sessions run by the CSLA students. They participated in a range of different activities and the high ability of the students was demonstrated. The Year 6 students thoroughly enjoyed the club and working with the Sixth Form leaders.

Dodgeball

Dodgeball has again been a great success at Nicholas Breakspear, attracting a wide range of students to the extra curricular clubs. With hope of a tournament against local schools next term, the students are keen to put their new skills into competition!

District Netball Tournament

Well done to all girls from St Bernadette's, St Adrian's, St John Fisher and Park Street who participated in the Year 5 and 6 District netball

tournament. Special congratulations to St Adrian's who won the Small Schools Tournament.

Leadership and Volunteering

Sixth Form students at Nicholas Breakspear continue to work hard with their sports volunteering through the Step Into Sport and CSLA programmes. This year, many of the students have been helping out with the Special Olympics Boccia which is held at Nicholas Breakspear School. The students have found it an enjoyable, rewarding new experience and many are now discovering new avenues of assisting with disabled sport.

Those who attend the Boccia have found the students extremely helpful and enthusiastic.

District Cross County
