  • County Table Tennis Finals

    Girls' U13 and U16 Competitions

    23rd November 2009

The girls' county round of the Butterfly National School Team Championship was held at Marlborough School, St Albans on the afternoon of 23rd November.  Teams had already come through local competitions to reach this stage and were now competing for the title of county champions, as well as for a place in February's Zone Finals.

In the under 13 competition the school's topping their groups and progressing to the semi finals were John Warner, Presdales, St Georges and Monks Walk.  Following some close games Presdales and Monks Walk emerged as finalists with Presdales going on to lift the trophy.

The under 16 competition was structured so that three teams made it through to the final stage and played a round robin to determine the winning school.  The three finalists were Barclay, St Albans Girls School and Ashlyns.  The competition was extremely close with St Albans Girls School just edging out Ashylns to take the title.

Amanda Robinson, Competition Manager for St Albans and Harpenden, organised the event with the support of the Hertfordshire Competition Manager team.  Club representatives from both Sandridgebury and Watford Jets were on hand to score games and the East Regional Development Officer for the English Table Tennis Association, John Andrews, presented the successful teams with medals and trophies.

Presdales and St Albans Girls School will next be in action at the Zone Final taking place at Morpeth School, Tower Hamlets, on January 24th.
